We had a wonderful 2 weeks in Villa Rosemary. It was our first time in Corfu- a really beautiful Island, with friendly people and great food. The local beaches- Pelekas and Glyfada are lovely. We explored beaches further afield but were quite happy to come back to them.

Pelekas has some good restaurants. We particularly liked The Pink Panther which had a warm welcome, great food and a gorgeous view.

Villa Rosemary was a delight. Clean, comfortable and wonderfully peaceful. We spent many hours in the pool and eating in the garden  Thank you Astrid and Martin- and Stephen- for a great holiday!

It looks as though we are the first people here this year- we have had an excellent week- the Villa is very luxurious, the pool a treat and the weather was beautiful!

Here are a few things we discovered (and they don’t seem to be covered at all in the glossy folder……): The nearest bread shop is just down the lane in the  village on the main road, as is the nearest café. For a Supermarket, head in the other direction ( towards Corfu Town) by car.

The rubbish needs to go into one of the skips at the side of the road-(they muddle the recycling with the normal rubbish in the lorry that collects it.) No one will come and get it for you from the Villa you need to do it yourself.

Liebe Astrid,

vielen Danke!

Thanks Stephen for the warm Welcome!

What a beautiful location!  The views across the valley are stunning, the pool is wonderful and the Villa is really well equipped with everything we needed.  The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and made us a couple of meals.

Great Local Finds:

The bakery that’s about 5-10 mins drive towards Corfu Town, on the left-hand side. Look out for the green sign marked:  “MAPTZOYKOS”—APTOPOIEIO—BAKERY. It`s next to a fancy shop selling coffee and coffee makers, also has it’s own little car park in front of it.  The blonde-haired woman is lovely-she really appreciated our attempts to speak Greek,  and gave us some free extra bread each time we went in!

Donkey Sanctuary. O.K, so not that local!  There’s a leaflet about it in the Villa Folder of Information. We’ve drawn a new map on said leaflet because the centre had moved- a friendly local pointed us in the right direction after we’d had a lovely scenic tour of Corfu countryside trying to find it ! The Centre is very basic but the volunteers are very friendly (and multi-lingual) and showed us around the different areas and told us about the work the Centre does.

Corfu Town. We spent a day looking around the Town and Market.  The trek to the top of both Fortresses is well worth it for the view .Try chicken souvlaki in pita bread from one of the cafés- delicious!

Further Afield:

Chlomos / Hlomos.  There’s a quirky little craft shop at the top of a very steep hills and beautiful views from the church. Both are signposted from the bottom of the village.

Boukaris. A quaint fishing village with traditional boats and rickety wooden jetties. Very picturesque.

All in all we had a fantastic time and would love to visit again one day.  Thank you to Stephen and Shay for coming to meet us so late after our evening flight and guiding us to the Villa.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at your lovely house.  We have been here for a week and we have been doing lots of nice drivings to beautiful beaches.

We have had both fun and peaceful moments here.

Eric from Edinburgh, Scotland

Had a lovely time exploring the Island, getting lost on mountain roads and testing the water at various beaches.

Especially we enjoyed the view from Kaiser’s Throne (top of Pelekas hill) and dinner on the Levant Terrace there, eating in Pelekas  Castellion restaurant at the top of Lakones (Paleokastritsa) a boat trip, there, a trip to Kalami and tootling about at the southern end -so much less touristy.  Merathias Beach has golden sand.

Closer to home, Villa Rosemary, the not very developed beach down the hill on the way up to Pelekas was our favourite local swim

We had a Pale coloured cat who visits here in the evenings, we called her Daphne ( though she may not be aware of it.) Give her milk in a plastic tub from the picnic cupboard would you.

Kerkyra- Do make a trip to the Town if you can. We parked by the Old Fortress, near the Esplanade-coffee is good at the famous Aegli. We ate well and cheaply at the Veranda, on the waterfront between the Asiatic and Byzantine museums. Ice cream is very good at Papageorgis. Enjoy!

 Dear Astrid and Martin

We stay more than two weeks in this beautiful Villa and we reached the point that we are full of positive emotions.  At first we would like to say THANK YOU to Stephen for his warm WELCOME. Every time we have the feeling that there is somebody who can help us for every question and with good recommendations.

Astrid and Martin, our compliments for the  equipment with  everything we needed in the time we stay here.  It was much more than we expected.  There are a lot of lovely details in and outside your Villa. We had the feeling that we were lost in time as if nothing beyond this Island would be existing for us—real holiday feeling.

Our girls Anastasia(9) and Katarina(4) ask us if we can also build a Villa like yours ,close to you.

It isn`t our first time in Greece but I think I can say it is the best stay ever and we learn Korfu as a beautiful Island with many different faces and places  The view from the pool to the nice trees and the lake gave us all a peaceful tranquillity.

We love the small beach in Mirtiotissa(visiting the Monastry is a must see!) with the clear water, sandy beach and the interesting rocks. Be careful with the way back with your car in the afternoon, if you leave your car close to the beach it could be very busy and the road is small but the view down to the sea can take your breath away!!

More nice beaches you can find in the area of Paleokastritsa, specially if you rent a boat. Also interesting to see is Sidari with the Canal d`Amour and the south of the island with the big beach at the salt lake.

There are much more things to say and to see but I am sure that I will continue writing down words in this book on our next visit.

Many Greetings and hugs from Goran, Beka, Anastasia & Katarina

Dear Astrid and Martin

Your Villa Rosemary is very nice and easy to stay, the kitchen is perfect. We found everything we wanted. We loved to have the pool because it´s so hot in Corfu.  We are going now for one more week in the south of Corfu without pool! I think it´s going to be different!!

Thank you to Stephen, very nice.

Very nice house to spend holidays in Corfu.

Best Regards

Isabel

Richard and Maxine Harris, England

The Villa had everything and more we needed for our stay. It was immaculate when we arrived.  All 5 of us got a lot of use out of the lovely swimming pool-it was a life saver during the hot days.  We`ve enjoyed our time in Corfu and visited some lovely places- Gouvia, Kassiopi, Glyfada Saint Georges, we drove to Halikounas which is a lovely quiet, remote beach-perfect for a quiet day. Agios Gordis have free sunbeds if you buy a drink from the Taverna-well worth it!!!  Shopping in Corfu Town is great and well worth a visit.

A BIG Thank You to Debbie and Andreas for all of their help, especially Debbie who gave us recommendations on where to go, what to do, directions, and helped us with the hire of the car. Thank You!!Maybe we´ll bump into each other next time you´re at Fosse Park!!!

Thank You Astrid and Martin for the use of your lovely Villa and for the great communication before we arrived!!!
